Part Time Maintenance Person
We are growing our team to enhance the care at Marianhill in response to the new Fixing Long-Term Care Act. As a result, we are recruiting for a Part-Time Maintenance Person (0.5 FTE).
Marianhill is a faith based, not-for-profit organization that provides long-term care, complex continuing care, community support services, palliative and hospice care services. Marianhill is accredited with Exemplary Standing.
Maintenance Person
Under the direction of the Manager of Environmental Services the Maintenance Person is responsible for maintaining a clean, pleasant atmosphere. Such duties are performed in accordance with Marianhill’s mission statement, established policies and procedures, current legislation and in a manner that respects the uniqueness, dignity, worth, self-respect, self-determination and autonomy of our residents to promote maximum independence.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Be courteous and friendly to visitors and work in a cooperative manner with co-workers.
- Must demonstrate a genuine concern and interest in the well-being of the residents.
- Must be self-motivating and work with minimal supervision.
- Must have the physical capabilities compatible with the current physical demands analysis for this position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Building Maintenance Mechanic Certificate or equivalent is required.
- Grade 12 education is required.
- Experience with computers is required.
- One-year experience in the commercial maintenance field is required.
- Experience working with geriatrics and dementia care is an asset.
- Must have working knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical motors, electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, painting and blue print reading.
- Oral and written proficiency in French is considered an asset.
- Oral and written proficiency in English is required.
- Excellent attendance is essential.
Hours of Work: To Be Discussed
Rate of Pay: Hourly $26.40 – $27.12 (CUPE Local 2764 +14% in lieu of benefits)

Please note proof as per Marianhill policy of required vaccinations, including but not limited to influenza, etc., is required as well as proof of a 2-Step Mantoux TB Skin Test dated within the last year with a current updated 1-Step. You will be required to provide an original, clear vulnerable sector criminal record check dated within the last 6 months and be able to sign a declaration at time of hire. Education certificate, diploma or otherwise must be provided to the Employer and you must participate in the N95 Mask Fit Testing Program as applicable.
