The Marianhill Community Respite Unit recognizes the enormous contribution that caregivers make to the lives of individuals that are cognitively impaired. Our 10-bed home-like unit offers overnight respite for those suffering from Alzheimer’s or dementia when a caregiver requires short-term relief from their daily routine of caregiving.
SERVICES
- Staff educated and trained to care for individuals with Alzheimer's/dementia
- Monday to Friday participation in adult day programs
- Personal care 24 hours per day
- Hot and cold nutritious meals and snacks
- Secure and smoke free environment
- Generously sized private bedrooms with ensuite bathroom
- Air conditioned accommodations
- Support and education for caregivers
GOALS
- To attain and maintain an optimum quality of life for seniors, their families and caregivers
- To assist the person with Alzheimer’s Disease and other related dementias to remain living in their own environment
- To provide caregivers with respite and an opportunity to gain information, education and encouragement to support them in their caregiving role
- To ensure high quality care for those individuals who temporarily reside in the Unit
- To assist with referrals to other community services as required
- To provide support for those with a cognitive impairment
ELIGIBILITY
Seniors living in Renfrew County who:
- are medically stable coping with memory loss and are able to return to their own home or an alternate living arrangement
- have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease , dementia, or cognitive impairment
- a maximum of one person assitance to perform Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (iADLs)
REFERRAL SOURCES
COST
$68.56/day due on the day of admission via cash, cheque or e-transfer.
ODSP Rate: $40.24/day.
Partially funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
