Recreation

At Marianhill we understand the value of sharing social time with those around us. Each month we host a full slate of group activities for both large and small groups. We also offer recreational programming on a one-to-one basis, depending on the type of activity and the needs of the resident. Family and friends are invited to join in.

Monthly activity calendars are posted throughout Marianhill, in the resident rooms and on the website, announcing upcoming activities to all residents.

Families interested in booking a gathering for up to 12 people maximum are asked to contact our Manager of Recreation and Volunteers (see below).

Dietary

Each resident’s dietary needs and preferences are determined at the time of admission. Subsequently, our clinical dietitian assesses nutrition status quarterly, noting changes in each resident’s medical condition and/or dietary preferences that may require changes to the nutrition care plan.

A four-week menu cycle is followed to ensure a variety of foods are offered. There are designated meal times for each of the three meals per day, however snacks are available for all residents between meals.

Meals and snacks are prepared on-site in the main kitchen according to Canada’s Food Guide and the Long-Term Care Guidelines. For residents needing assistance with eating, special dining areas are staffed to meet individual needs.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the meal planning process. A meal planned by the residents is offered monthly — residents are encouraged to participate in this planning process.
