New Doctors Eligible to Practice
After seven years, a pair of international doctors has finally been able to open a family medical practice in Pembroke. This husband and wife team met in Iran, and travelled the world before settling in Canada where they found that despite all their professional experience and a shortage of family doctors, they were not eligible to practice.
After the frustration of navigating the system, in 2023 Dr Ali Ziaee and his wife Dr Helia Ghanean were finally presented the opportunity to register through the Practice-Ready Ontario program. Last October they were invited to open a practice in Pembroke, and now care for 2000 patients between them, including many of the residents of Marianhill.
Their presence is making the world of difference for residents of this region, including the Marianhill community.
