Part Time Recreation Programmer

We are growing our team to enhance the care at Marianhill in response to the new Fixing Long-Term Care Act.  Therefore, we require more staff. As a result, we are recruiting for Recreation Programmers.

Marianhill is a faith based, not-for-profit organization that provides long-term care, complex continuing care, community support services, palliative and hospice care services. Marianhill is accredited with Exemplary Standing.

Recreation Programmer

Under the direction of the Manager of Recreation and Volunteers, the Recreation Programmer assists with the provision of Resident care.  Duties are performed in accordance with Marianhill’s mission statement, established policies and procedures, current legislation and in a manner that respects the uniqueness, dignity, worth, self-respect, self-determination, and autonomy of our residents to promote maximum independence


  • Have a post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university or be enrolled in a community college or university in a diploma or degree program in such a field.
  • Completion of a food safety awareness program recognized by a Public Health Unit is required.
  • Computer Literacy is an asset.
  • Oral and written proficiency in French is considered an asset.
  • Oral and written proficiency in English is required.
  • Excellent attendance is essential.

Wage: $22.77-23.43 per hour per local Collective Agreement. The base wage is currently under negotiations.

Please note proof as per Marianhill policy of required vaccinations, including but not limited to influenza, etc., is required as well as proof of a 2-Step Mantoux TB Skin Test dated within the last year with a current updated 1-Step. You will be required to provide an original, clear vulnerable sector criminal record check dated within the last 6 months and be able to sign a declaration at time of hire. Education certificate, diploma or otherwise must be provided to the Employer and you must participate in the Annual Influenza Program and N95 Mask Fit Testing Program as applicable.
